Agronomy
HOST: Osawatomie (Brandt)
This contest follows the state contest and guidelines and usually contains the following portions:
- 100 Plant Identification
- 3 Grain Grading
- 3 Seed Analysis
This is all subject to change based on changes made at the state and national levels.

ENTOMOLOGY
HOST: Perry-Lecompton (Anguiano)
Four members constitute a team and three will count for team scores.
The contest will consist of the following areas:
-50 Identification (Real Specimens and Photos)
-50 Question General Knowledge Exams
FARM BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
Host: Paola (Menefee)
All four team members and related teams must report to the designate room at the same time. Three scores count for a team score
CDE will consist of one multiple choice test that will test students knowledge on basic agricultural economic concepts, agricultural business, financial documents and current events. There will be problem solving questions that will require a non-programmable calculator.
Participants will have 90 minutes to complete the test.

Host: Paola (Menefee)

FLORICULTURE
HOST: Spring Hill (Hampton)
Team will consist of four members with the top three scores counting for the team score.
CDE Will Consist of:
Plant Identification: 50 total (3 points/plant for 150 total points)
-Using the Kansas State Floriculture CDE Identification Sheet
Practicums (4 points each for 100 total points)
-Floral arrangement questions
-Tool Identification Questions (using National FFA Tool Id List)
-Pests Identification (using Kansas FFA List)
-Diseases/Disorders (using Kansas FFA List)
Exam: 50 questions (2 points each for a total of 100 points
350 total points possible for the Floriculture CDE
FOOD SCIENCE
HOST: Paola (Menefee)
Teams will consist of four members with three counting for the team score.
CDE will consist of:
-Written Test
-50 Questions (2 pts each)
-May Cover Any Aspect of Food Science
-Triangle Test
-2 Triangle Test (10 pts each)
-Students must use their senses to determine which product is different
-Aromas
-4 Aromas (5 pts each)
-A list of aromas will be provided to each student.
-Customer Inquiry Problems
-5 Scenarios Representing Customer Inquiries
-Participants must determine if the customer inquiry reflects a quality or
safety issue (2 pts each)
-Determine if the inquiry is a biological, chemical or physical concern or
hazard (2 pts each)
-20 Points Total
-Problem Solving/Math Practicum
-Contestants will answer a series of 5 mathematical calculations based on
common food science themes
-5 pts each; 25 pts total

-2nd: Problem Solving
-3rd: Customer Inquiry

-30-40 Retail Cut Identification
-4-6 Wholesale or Retail Placing Classes
-2 Sets of Questions, 5 Questions Per Set
-10 Quality Grading Steaks
-6 Yield Grading Ribeyes Done with "to scale" pictures (HCW and KPH will
be given to contestants)

-1st: ID
-2nd: Placings Classes
-3rd: Questions
